Fighting the Fall
I have been facing terrible cognitive decline lately. The stress has broken down my systems and made me crave cheap dopamine as a way to protect myself from getting hurt.
Some things I plan to do:
Sports: I have struggled with meditation but in some way this forces me to meditate. I have a clear mind when I am playing and not worried about stresses of life.
Meditate: Actually sit and breathing exercise. Sports still lets you "escape". This is to teach you to not escape how you feel
Low screen time: Look this was useful in some ways. You needed to escape the immediate stresses and get some mind numbing substance. Phone served as that. But it is destroying your mind.
Blogging: Review your progress every week and put your thoughts into words
Reading
Cooking: This is non negotiable.
Supplements:
- I plan to take fish oil, creatine (if I can digest it) and L theanine
If I can't focus at all after 6-8 weeks (scores below 3) then I will consult a doctor.
what to do when you are bored:
- wash face
- pick up something like crocheting/cooking
- cleaning
- walking if time permits
- call a friend (don't have to be alone in this)
- skincare
- shaving
Closing remarks: There are significant challenges lined up in my life and I may never be truly happy again. But I won't kms until my parents are alive. I'll live for them by living for myself.
